Nintendo DS Reaches 21 Million

The DS may be the hottest thing in gaming right now as consistently it and it's games every week selling like there is no tomorrow. But Nintendo today released a press release saying that in less than 2 years from it's release back on November 21, 2004 it has sold 21 million units as of June 30, 2006. That is quite impressive for about a year and 8 months. None the less with hot games such as Animal Crossing: Wild Work, Mario Kart DS, Metroid Prime: Hunters, Nintendogs, New Super Mario Bros., and the ever popular Brain Training series sales just keep being pushed. Although it's competition, PSP, tends to stay at the same sales although I'll get more into Sony shipments when Worldwide numbers come out. But 21 million that quick is an enormous feat. And just so all of our viewers on Paradise can see I'll breakdown the shipments for the major areas not only for hardware but software too. Check it: Nintendo DS Hardware Japan - 9,240,000 America - 5,900,000 Other - 6,130,000 Total - 21,270,000 Nintendo DS Software Japan - 34,420,000 America - 25,210,000 Other - 19,160,000 Total - 78,790,000 Ah the Nintendo DS is doing quite well. As you can see Japan is where it really is kicking off very largely. And remember this is only as of June 30, 2006. That leaves almost the entire month of July til now. Japan's shipment number are probably over 10 milion by now. And I would be no surprise to see America above 6 million. For the official press release go to the below website. I'll make a post very soon concerning Worldwide hardware sales for all the consoles and handhelds as soon as I get the Xbox and Sony systems hardware stuff. http://gonintendo.com/?p=3982 Zucas
