Japanese Gaming Market Increases by 50%

As we all know the gaming market is mostly American with Europe bein the second biggest. Well Japan is one of the biggest sole countries in the market only next to the USA and tied with the UK. So a very important asset to all game companies plans. But this market has just gone under a huge change. Between 2004 and 2005 the Japanese game market has risen nearly 50% putting the value up to $11.6 billion. The huge increase is due mainly to the DS, PSP, and mobile phone as they have become steadily popular. But the source mainly says it's due to the DS as it occupies a much larger piece of this market. They say if this continues to happen you could see another large increase in market share for the Japanese market which will make a lot of companies start to think twice of support over there. A lot of people I know always say how Japan just isn't big enough to worry too much about. Well right now they have a 20 million installed base and I think that's something worth going for. And with that increasing it seems like the Japanese market is definetly something to take seriously. Source Zucas

Definately, Japan plays an integral factor in market share for either hand-held or console. But, in some ways, Japan cannot be taken "seriously" when they completely snob off MS or the Xbox brand purely because it's American and/or Chinese made. They don't do it for too many other reasons really than that. Nations like America, and Britain will still unbiasedly consume products made in Asia and USA and UK. So, in some ways, the Xbox brand would be doing a whole lot better in market share if the Japanese people actually were more sincere about stuff. They seem to have a problem with the USA (for WW2) and with China (cultural/war) as well as the rest of Asia in fact. As a people they tend to be a lot more elitist.

Not good for X360,When PS3 & Wii take large chunks of this market and X360 has nothing X360 is doomed to fail.
